I sort of think there are two types of people in the world: those who love neutrals and those who love color. I tend to lean more towards color so if you’re in the same boat, these rainbow Easter eggs might bring you instant joy. They’re easy enough to make and if you make a whole bunch, there’s a lot of ways that you can incorporate these into your Easter decor.

For example, you could fill a hurricane glass vase layered with these rainbow Easter eggs. Or, if you’re hosting brunch, use a different colored egg for each person’s place setting. Let’s say you’re setting a table for 6 people. Assign a color to each person and write their name on the egg as a creative place card. For a fun conversation starter, you might even share why you chose that color for that person! For a bit of extra sparkle, I splattered gold paint onto these rainbow Easter eggs. I also styled it with iridescent tinsel instead of the typical green grass for the aesthetics. If you’re making these rainbow Easter eggs as placesettings, make a nest from the tinsel to hold the egg on each person’s plate.

If you love crafting in all the colors of the rainbow, then you’re going to love the new book Art Craft Color: Brighten Your Life with Projects In Every Color of the Rainbow by Lisa Solomon.
I had the pleasure to speak with Lisa about the concept of her book which includes 20 different amazing craft projects by a diverse group of American crafters, artists and makers.

Now, let’s get making these rainbow Easter eggs!

Materials
- Food coloring
- Vinegar
- Eggs
- Gold paint
- Paint brush (choose one that has some bounce to it to make splattering paint easier)
- Tinsel basket shreds
Steps
- Hard boil eggs and dye in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple. Do this by adding 1 tsp vinegar to ½ cup boiling water and 20 drops of desired food color. Repeat with all 7 colors. Dry on egg drying rack.Â
- Once dry, speckle with gold paint by dipping brush in gold paint and then flicking the bristles of the brush.Â
- Once the gold paint has dried, arrange the eggs on a silver tinsel nest for added fun.Â
