Are unicorns still trending? Well, trending or not, if you know a kid (or adult!) that loves unicorns make these creative unicorn Easter eggs. What’s really unique about this tutorial is that you’re basically making your own stickers first in the silhouette of the unicorn head. Then once you die the egg and remove the sticker, it leaves the imprint of the sticker you had on. In this tutorial, you also have the option of purchasing a pre-made template for your unicorn Easter eggs. This option is for anyone that doesn’t feel like they’re good at drawing and won’t be able to get the shape right for the unicorn’s head. But you can easily draw the silhouette directly onto contact paper and cut it out.

Of course, if you’d rather just buy unicorn stickers rather than DIY – do that! This unicorn Easter eggs craft is dedicated more to the crafters, experimenters and explorers rather than those looking to fulfill a functional need.
If you plan on making a lot of these unicorn Easter eggs – for example, for a class or with a large group of children – a Cricut machine can be very helpful to cut out the silhouette for the kids to work with. You can use Cricut’s Smart Removable Vinyl for this project.

Materials
- Eggs (hardboiled or blown out)
- Printable template (optional – you can also draw your own)
- Contact or sticker paper
- Scissors
- Vinegar
- Pink food coloring
- Markers and gel pens
Steps
1. Print template onto contact paper. Cut each unicorn silhouette out and adhere to eggs. Press down hard with your nail to smooth any creases. (Try to keep creases around the unicorns mane than anywhere else because dye soaks through creases and the mane will get colored in anyway.)

2. Prepare dye by mixing 1 tsp vinegar with every ½ cup boiling water. For a light pink shade use about 13-15 drops pink food coloring per 1 – 1.5 cups water. Dip eggs into dye and dry.

3. Once dry, remove contact paper and color in unicorn using markers and gel pens. Here a gold gel pen is used for the horn where as colorful markers are used for the mane. A fine tip black pen is used for the eyes and mouth.
4. Arrange unicorns onto metallic or iridescent paper grass for a whimsical touch.
