In some Muslim cultures, lanterns are heavily associated with Ramadan. Before electricity, lanterns were carried outdoors to help spot the crescent moon which indicates the start of Ramadan. For a fun treat for kids, make lantern sandwiches with peanut butter and jam – the jam gives the lanterns a stained glass look!
Ingredients and Supplies
- Peanut butter
- Lantern cookie cutter
- Lightly toast bread. Use cookie cutter to cut out lantern shape on bread.
- On another piece of bread, spread a layer of peanut butter followed by a layer of jam.
- Place bread with lantern shape on top of peanut butter and jam bread to make a sandwich.
