As a Muslim who converted from Christianity to Islam as an adult, I received lots of Easter baskets growing up. It was probably the first thing my siblings and I thought of when we awoke on Easter morning. We would immediately run to see what the “Easter Bunny” brought us in our baskets. But we weren’t allowed to touch our baskets until we returned from church (I think this was to ensure we actually got ready and out the door on time). Receiving our baskets and comparing who got what was always one of the most fun parts of the holiday for us.
Eid is just around the corner, and creating Ramadan or Eid baskets for your children is a great way to add to their excitement and celebrate the day! Here, you’ll find lots of ideas for what to put in your children’s baskets. Many of the items included in the list are suitable for multiple age groups.
Babies and infants
Babies first Eid basket is kind of like babies first birthday. They are not going to remember or fully understand what’s going on, so it’s really all about you. Have fun with it and fill it with items that you love, or things your baby needs. Probably a good idea to stay away from chocolates or anything too sweet. And while your aiming for small items to fill the baskets you definitely want to be sure you don’t include anything too small that may be a potential choking hazard.
